Paul A. Balboni has over thirty years of diverse financial and managerial experience most of which has been centered around the financial, operational, and strategic evaluation of corporations operating in a broad spectrum of industry sectors. His previous positions in the financial services industries required him to employ extensive and complex analytical techniques to assess company financial and operational risk, conduct macro and micro economic (industry/competitive) analysis, and evaluate the efficacy of corporate strategy.
His lengthy tenure in the commercial banking industry, culminated in key managerial roles. Paul held the position of Senior Vice President and Senior Lending Officer for Park Tower National Bank, Houston, Texas during the 1980’s where he was responsible for all commercial and retail lending activities including commercial real estate lending and residential mortgage banking. Upon returning to New England in the late 1980’s, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Fleet Bank, N.A. in Connecticut, a predecessor bank to Bank of America, N.A. Subsequently, during the advent of the loan quality crisis for the New England banks, he held the critical position of Senior Vice President with managerial responsibility for the entire commercial loan and commercial real estate workout function for Fleet Bank in Connecticut.
Subsequent to his banking career, Paul was the President and Chief Executive Officer of AGC Incorporated, a multi-division, international company engaged in the manufacture, repair and overhaul of aerospace engine components where he developed and executed a successful turnaround strategy. He had direct managerial responsibility for all corporate functions and was a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
Paul was a co-founder of Balboni, Buchanan & Associates, LLC in 1998, an executive recruiting firm placing technical and managerial personnel up to and including many “C” level executive placements for public companies. The firm specialized in the placement of personnel for various manufacturing sectors including but not limited to aerospace, defense, energy, and materials on an international basis. Paul continued his involvement in various turnaround management and financial institution consulting projects through his own consulting practice operated as an adjunct to his activities for Balboni, Buchanan & Associates LLC.
A significant educational background in finance, accounting, and economics, including graduate and undergraduate level securities analysis courses, heavily underpins Paul’s practical financial and managerial experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance, Magna cum Laude, from Bentley University, in Waltham, Massachusetts in May 1977. During his education at Bentley, he received an academic award scholarship for his achievements in the economics and finance course curriculum. Paul also successfully completed the course curriculum (except thesis) for the Master of Business Administration program (concentration-finance), at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota in June 1981.
